The American Heart Association (AHA) PALS course includes the skills recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest; the systematic approach to pediatric assessment; effective respiratory management; defibrillation and synchronized cardio-version; intra-osseous access and fluid bolus administration; and effective resuscitation team dynamics.

For successful completion of this course students must pass the 1- and 2- rescuer Child CPR/AED and 2- rescuer infant CPR/AED skills test, complete all learning stations, complete the written exam with a score of 84% or higher and pass 2 PALS core case scenarios as a team leader providing appropriate medical treatment and demonstrating effective team dynamics. Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive an AHA PALS course completion card which is valid for two years. Course length: approximately 8 hours.

Pre-requisites:
1.  Pre-payment for course is required at this time.

2. Current, valid AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider card

3. Current, valid AHA PALS card (renewals only)

4. AHA PALS Pre-Course Test-must score a 70% or higher

You are required to have the current textbook for this course. If you already own one or have access to one before, during, and after the class, you do not need to purchase one here. You have to bring the book to class. Please choose from the following optional items:

According to AHA, you must have the ability to push at the at least 2 inches  on the feed back  manikins consistently and administer breaths properly.  This is an AHA requirement for the SKILLS portion of the testing.  If you have any physical issues or health problems that may prevent you from meeting this requirement, please speak with a We R CPR office maager immediately.  

This includes:

Covid 19/Fever/ flu symptoms

Cold sores/ open face sores

Recent wrist, arm or shoulder surgery

Spinal or neck injuries

Carpel Tunnel Syndrome

Parkinson’s

Pregnancy

Covid 19/TB- active- Don't come to class 

Inability to stand

We will make accommodations as allowed.  However, you may be required to return at another time if you are unable to pass the skills portion and you will not be able to receive your  CPR card.
